Valparaiso University understands that different people have different needs when it comes to their benefits.  That's why we have carefully constructed a benefits package that gives you choices.

Valparaiso University's Shield of Character represents the attributes that define the University.  One of those qualities is the ability to protect faculty, staff and their families from the risks that are most threatening to their health and financial security. This protection is developed in partnership with you. The University offers you a choice in benefits that you can use to create your own personal Benefits Shield of Protection.

Building a healthy campus community is a priority. The University sponsors the Personal Wellness Profile Program and offers incentives to faculty, staff and their spouses to encourage participation.  Additionally, all employees have access to a Personal Health Advocate whether enrolled in a University medical plan or choosing to waive coverage.

Benefits offered include:

Medical, Dental, and Vision Plans The University offers two health plan options, PPO or HSA, both administered by Anthem.

Retirement Savings Plan (403b) The University participates in the Teachers Insurance and Annuity Association and the College Retirement Equities Fund (TIAA-CREF).  Eligible faculty and staff who contribute at least 1% of salary receive the University's contribution of 7.5% of annual salary to the account.

Life Insurance Group life insurance is optional for full-time faculty and staff members of Valparaiso University. Basic term life and accidental death and dismemberment coverage is offered in the amount of $50,000. The employee bi-weekly contribution is $1.00 for this coverage.  Additional insurance is available through CIGNA for employees, spouses, and children at reasonable rates.

Long Term Disability Valparaiso University provides eligible full-time faculty and staff members with income protection in the event of long-term or permanent, total disability through long-term disability insurance. The University pays the full cost.
